I'm a bit disappointed by these pictures. Not really about how it looks, but rather because it doesn't seem to be much smaller than the current slim. As far as I can see, the slim and this "super slim" have pretty much the same size. Infact, I think it looks like this "super slim" is even more wide than the slim.

Which makes me believe they may not been able to cut down the energy consumption as much as I had hoped (down to a PS2 slim level).

Whoever made it, it looks ugly and doesn't look like an official Sony PS3.

Check what I have found...

Power supply, BD drive and HDD can't be reduced in size much. So size can't go too small with out removing those components.

Being a top loader for the BD drive. Would explain the New firmware choice to replace "eject" with "remove". This does reduce costs as there is no need for a BD system to eject the BD...

The lid would also replace the need for dust filter on the BD drive entrance.

That would be Kaz Hirai. I quite like the PS3 he received.

The new super-slim model on the other hand, not really convinced about the design from the early images.

I'll hold my final judgement till I can see it in the shops.

Kaz Hirai's PS3 ... you see the shiny red thing ?? That is the PSU ... it is big, no ??
So in PS3 Skinny that possibly why it is skinnier , but still fat (wide) .. just saying. :smileyhappy:

Re: The new PS3 (Slim) CECH-4011B/C

Because the current slim is still pricey to build, and they can't drop the price much more, least with this newer slimmer model they can drop the price much lower and build up the userbase.

Still can't under stand why they still have both usb ports at the front, if it is a redesign i would of put at least one port at the back.

Also with this model you can get to the laser to clean it easier.

Re: The new PS3 (Slim) CECH-4011B/C

I think Gamescom is going to be a fairly decent one for Playstation/Sony!!!!

I wonder if the WILL announce this new "SuperSlim" PS3 or "PS3 SS" as I have dubbed it :smileyhappy: but yeah I would go out on a limb and say See you at GamesCom PS3 SS!!

Wonder how cheap it will be.

I presume it will be around the £150 mark considering you can pick up a new 160gb now for around £180.

Oh and those ridges on the top...:smileyindifferent: not a great fan of those.
