Hi, I just got a PS3 40gb but it makes a weird noise, I'm not sure if it is the fan or not, basically it makes like a croaking noise, almost like a frog, I had a 60gb and all you could hear was the wisper of the fan, you can hear this wisper with the 40gb but there's an underlying croaky noise, is this normal for the 40gb's? Thanks for any help

I have never heard of that before are you able to tell if it's maybe the blu-ray drive or HDD making the noise ?

Can I be nosey and ask why you bought a 40gb (phat ?) model now ?

Well I've always had a 60gb (ylod) and just prefer the old fat models, plus the blu-ray drives are a lot quieter, I do have for a slim aswell. Anyway it's not the blu-ray drive as it makes this sound without a disc inserted, I'm not sure if it's the fan or the HDD, the noise is constant by the way as soon as you turn it on until you turn it off, it's not very loud but easily audible, does the HDD spin constantly whilst the PS3 is on or does it only spin when it's being accessed?

Actually after listening to it again it sounds like a cricket.
