Twisted Metal - A look back

[ Edited ]

The new addition to the driving shooter franchise Twisted Metal is almost upon us. While browsing for some videos online I came across some videos of the older games in the series and had flashbacks of when my father bought me my first PlayStation, which came with a copy of Tekken and Twisted Metal. Back then I was so taken by the 3D arenas mixed with 2D textures, which at the time were cutting edge. The earlier games of course dated but back in the day they gave me and some friends some fond memories of gaming as a teenager. As you look at the videos below, you notice slight improvements between the first 4 before the series took a big leap to the PlayStation®2 era with Twisted Metal Black.

 Twisted Metal (1995) - PSX

The first game in the series where the mysterious Calypso hosts a tournament between drivers to batlte against each other become the last one alive.

Twisted Metal 2: Wrold Tour (1996) - PSX

This time the action takes place in cities all over the world rather than in special arenas.

Twisted Metal III (1998) - PSX

Twisted Metal 4 (1999) - PSX

Twisted Metal: Black (2001) - PS2

Twisted Metal: Head On (2005) - PSP

Twisted Metal (2012)

We want to know what has been your favourite Twisted Metal game to date? What aspects of the series interested you the most? Was it the choice of vehicles, the arenas, or even the choice of weapons?

Is there somethingn new you would like to see in the series?

Twisted Metal is scheduled for release on February 14th 2012.

Twisted metal 2 was my favourite. I really liked the art style.

Re: Twisted Metal - A look back

I loved Twisted Metal 2-4.  Twisted Metal 2 was easily the best but I think the 3rd game had a pretty good soundtrack from what I can recall.

Feb 2012 :smileyindifferent: Its ages away man stop teasing us so early :smileysad:

Oh well so be it, my favourite TM was No.2. Thats when I was a rowdy teen drinking and staying up all night at my mates house. Crazy times :smileyvery-happy:

The city tracks was much better then the arenas of the original and gave it a better atmosphere me thinks :smileyhappy:

NOW PLAYING:  Max Payne 3

Re: Twisted Metal - A look back

As much as I loved playing TM Black on the PS2 and TM 4 with my cousin at home, the icing on the cake for me was when it came out on the PSP! I could take it anywhere and everywhere I was going. The times I went on a road trip and I'd be glued to the screen playing on it until the battery ran out :smileyvery-happy:

This PS3 version is going to rock!

Re: Twisted Metal - A look back

I have always known this as a cult classic yet I never played it even though I had a PS1, PS2 and PSP. I will definitely be grabbing the new one though :smileyvery-happy:
