Twisted Metal Import from America

So I've heard that Europe have censored something in the game and edits are not welcome, therefore I'm contemplating about buying American version of the game.

But I've got some questions... Will online multiplayer and patches work? Of course, I know DLCs won't work and I'm not bothered about DLCs anyway.

Re: Twisted Metal Import from America

Patches will be obtainable if you have a PSN account from the same region as the game (maybe even without).

As for MP, it will work but here's the deal. We are waiting on definite confirmation that the game uses worldwide matchmaking. It is believed that it does. Jaffe has always said that it does and in the next couple of days we'll get a 100% answer. I believe it will for various reasons... can't say much more really.

Re: Twisted Metal Import from America

Does this game have an online pass?

If it does you will need an american account to redeem it

Patches might be a problem unless it updates from a central server.

Online depending on whether it is region set for games then the only thing that will be different is you will be playing on US servers rather than EU.

And as you have said dlc will be a problem.

Saying that with the new psn name change things like that may not be an issue as they plan on making the service globally linked rather than region based.

It does, and you are correct, you will.

Worst comes to the worst he needs a US account. But my experience is that foreign titles update even when logged into an account of non-matching region.

The server issue is likely to be Worldwide and early next week we'll get the answer which I'll post here because a few people will be interested to know.

You can buy US PSN cards almost at their face value nowadays from some sites. Maybe a pound or two over price but nothing major. Hardly a shortage of content on the US store (apparently) to spend the money on should you be one of these terribly deceptive people who make US accounts when they don't actually live there...........

I doubt it. Lag would be unbelieveable if you was connecting to people in America.

In actual fact it's not. It's been coded to cope with the latency well, and I've been playing lots of Americans with no trouble. The final game also uses worldwide matchmaking so you'll be playing people from all over the world.

Re: Twisted Metal Import from America

What sort of delivery times should be expected if importing from the US?

Also has anyone found it cheap because i had a very quick look and $60 works out more in sterling than it can currently be preorderd for over here and thats before HMR&C have had thier grubby hands on it.

Im not really botherd about the censoring i just wanna play the game soon but the price, international p&p, delivery time, customs duty/vat and having to use a US account is putting me off :/

I hate delays :Frown:

£43 is the best I managed via airmail. Delivery is typically 7-10 days from the states in my experience. Obviously you are never going to get an import game for the same sort of price you can domestically. The import market has a mark-up anyway even before you deal with the postage.

Whilst it is eligible for VAT to be levied, in my experience it is rare that airmail packages are caught for it. Obviously the sheer volume of airmail makes this a logistical improbability; although not impossible.
