Hi,
I've just ordered a new HDD for my PS3 but don't currently have a means to back up the save games currently on my PS3. I had thought about connecting my PSP and manually copying the saves over but it will not let me copy my Need For Speed save.
Is it possible to take the current (old) HDD out, install the new one, then use the old HDD as a remove storage device and copy the files across from there?
Or alternatively, could I set the new drive up as external storage and backup the data. Then connect that to my PC & copy the data across to my PC. Format and install as the main HDD on the PS3. Copy the data from PC to old HDD and restore back to the newly installed HDD.
Any help much appreciated.

Yep that should work, just make sure the new HDD is in FAT32 format and that you have a means of connecting it to the PS3 and PC i.e. a caddy
Any help much appreciated.

Please can you post back and let us know if this works ? I was under the impression that PC's couldn't read the PS3 formatted HDDs
I dont think they can. I took mine out the PS3 the other day and plugged it into a caddy to do a full format on it but it wouldn't do it using both swisknife or EASEUS and it said there was nothing there.
God nows how it eventually found it and i managed a quick format and that was it ![]()
