VERY Poor Sony Support

It may not surprise any of you but I can now say that SCEE support are completely useless.

I switched on my old PSP last Thursday for the first time in well over 18 months.  I wanted to try out some mini games I had seen on the Playstation Store.  So the system decided to do an update.  From rls3.x to 6.x.

I then tried to download a PSP mini.  Only to be told that I already have 5 PSPs registered.  To be clear I have only ever owned on PS3 and one PSP.  Never even replaced them under warranty.

I called Sony support.  They accused me of giving out my login details to people even though four PSPs had registered on Thursday after the software update.

They are now refusing to remove the devices I don't own.  Which means the one PSP I do have can't be used.

Does anyone else think it is a bit fishy that I had a PS3 registered on Thursday morning before a system update and then by some miracle 6 appeared on my account following the update.  For the record I spent £2.15 on the mini game.

Spent an hour on the phone to them today and I am waiting for a "Supervisor" to call me.

Will be quoting the Data Protection Act 1998 to them which says I have a right to see all records held against my name and their legal obligation to remove or correct all records which are not accurate.

I'll update this entry with the results of the next call.

Re: VERY Poor Sony Support

Sony's customer support have always been absolutely spot on when i've had to have dealings with them so this surprises me a little bit.

Give them hell though cos that's not on.

Re: VERY Poor Sony Support

My girlfriend had similar issues and received no help, just accusations. I'm sorry to say she has now stopped gaming after losing her account with over 500 trophies and Home stuff. I felt like it was my fault because it took me ages to get into gaming.

Re: VERY Poor Sony Support

Surely they have to prove you've been "sharing" your account details?

Then again, they could ask you to prove you haven't so it's a no win situation.

Re: VERY Poor Sony Support

The system should allow you to reset activations online, or automatically reset them in an system is not logged on for 6 months.

My first PSP was sold without de-activating the account, and my first PS3 was returned faulty the same way. I've since had two YLOD returned to SCEE.

At least with my 360 you can reset your active machines online, I think you can do it once every 12 months

Re: VERY Poor Sony Support

OK.  So the manager at Sony I spoke to "Won't " help me.  Wrote a 6 page complaint letter to SCE head office.

Turns out 4 accounts activated on the same date in October.  But what Sony didn't mention is that £100 had been transferred from my account and used to buy PSP games.

So I am down £100 and can't use my PSP.

Taking it up with the Police and my Bank tomorrow.

The joke here is that the people who stole my money can still play the games as Sony refuse to remove their consoles from my account.

Another letter to Sony will follow this week.

Here is what appears to have happened :

- my password was changed (I assume someone figured out the answer to my security question)

- my date of birth was changed (switched month and day around)

- £100 transferred from my account (beware - don't store your CC details)

- just enough games to cover the £100 were bought

- next day password was reset

To figure out your security question it would have to someone who knows you as to take a stab is just to random & they would need to know your e-mail address.

- my date of birth was changed (switched month and day around)

You can't alter your date of birth once your account is set.

- £100 transferred from my account (beware - don't store your CC details)

I'm sure it down to your credit card company to recover ther cost.

??

- next day password was reset

Why would someone steal your account then reset your password sounds a bit fishy tbh.

He has that "Special" PS3 account tho,

.......................

When he said his DOB was changed thats when i thought he was full of BS, i think he has been game sharing and one of his little thieving chav friends decided to steal his account from him.

Re: VERY Poor Sony Support

He might just be reading it wrong. Can't be bothered to check the format it's written in, but it may be the opposite of what he is expect it to be and so he's reading it wrong. ie MM/DD instead of DD/MM
