For me, it's a decent story or in some cases a decent re-telling of a story, gameplay is naturally important as things have to flow and make sense but ultimately any game can be called "good", there will always be good parts and not so good parts but every game to me can be called good as long as it works.

I find that some people who review games or even just play games can be a little too picky, they will compare it to something else but for me when I play a game I like to look at it as a singular experience like there is no point in saying that operation raccoon city, a game I'm playing now, should be anything like other resident evil games...It should have the same styles and I feel it does but it doesn't have to be the same as a previous one and shouldn't be compared as such.

Re: What defines a good game?

Gameplay and storyline :smileyvery-happy: a game can still be amazing without the best graphics or online features, all goes back to incredible games like Final Fantasy X on the PS2 :smileyhappy:

Re: What defines a good game?

A game which doesn't require a patch as soon as you put it in your console.... Dead Space comes to mind.

Anything which isn't a FPS, if it has a good co-op then i wont mind FPS titles, but I'm really bored of them now.

Like they just have went overboard with call of duty games, and now they're doing the same with battlefield/medal of honor, i wont be buying the new medal of honor or anymore FPS titles (DUST514 being the exception that is at least interesting and looking good).

Anyway, plenty of action and adventure which has a great co-op to it and is well detailed and isnt glitchy or have annoying 100 hidden packages to find like GTA, and something which hasn't been done to death unless they innovate to a degree which makes it stand out.

A good game needs to have a great storyline and gameplay.

A great game needs to do something different and still keeps you hooked and if it makes you feel emotion for the character your playing then that's a bonus.
