Hiya Ive got a 8 meg connection from AOL Broadband which is currently doing d/l speeds of 5 meg/sec and has a ping rate of 37ms and a Jitter rate of 1ms. Now all I want to know is if I have got a good connection speed for playing games on my PS3????? I dunno anything about Latency or anything technical about the internet so if anyone can help me I would be extremely grateful!!!
Many thanks

IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAND!
This isn't really the right section of the boards to be posting your query, but in answer to your question, what you have should do fine. My broadband was recently upgraded to the same as what you have, but even before at about 2 meg, it did the job.

Im not good at using forums so I do apologise if I have placed the question in the wrong section, Just wondering what is best for PS3 online gaming, what is a good ping rate to look for as my ISP contract is running out and I was wondering whether to use Virgin as they have a really high connection speed or do I not look for that????

So is it worth me ringing up Virgin as will they be able to do a test at what the upload speed and ping rate is before I join with them???? Or because its cable does that automatically mean that I will get a brilliant game speed without me needing to ask them?

I'm on Virgin 10mb and my ping is normaly about 5 (sometimes it goes upto about 15) but virgins upload is crap on 10mb. I never get more than 0.5mb upload.
Also if I've been downlading from newsgroups at peek times for more than half an hour they drop my download to to 0.3mb and the PS3 wont even sign in.
I've never had any trouble playing online when I've not been downloading to much though. Even when I was on 2mb.
