Whats wrong with camping?

On any platform you play, there are people who complain about gamers who tend camp in First Person Shooters. Being a fan of war movies and knowing people (and family) in the military I personally see no problem with camping and consider it a very legitimate tactic.

Put it this way, if you told a sniper that camping is for noobs, he/she would tell you up front he'd pop you on the field before you even knew he was there. Camping happens in real life, and in fact camping is the most used tactic in todays warzones. Honestly, find me a soldier that runs around like a headless chicken in Iraq.

Is it just kids who hate campers or what?

It's fine for snipers to stay in a good position for as long as they like. But you try getting killed at the same doorway by the same person twice in a row, it's really not fun at all.

Isn't that your fault for not doing what the real guys would do? Throw in explosives, get your team mate with heavy duty rifle to fire through the walls... these games do allow that. Granted, you have to know your team mates as most people you come acrodd tend to do the headless chicken thing and provide no team work in team games which always amuses me...

Re: Whats wrong with camping?

It's a retarded way to play the game though. Who wants to just sit in a corner all the time waiting for people to walk past? bearing in mind this is a game not real life.

If everyone camped there's be no point in playing.

Re: Whats wrong with camping?

hehehe.Yep, its a game not real life but yea for a sniper camping is the only way to be but for 99% of online FPS gamers its the headless chicken move they love.

It's a bit hard being a sniper online when one of those morons comes and shoots you in the back then they camp at your spawn point.
And the games let them cheat. Example Socom Confrontation, I found a really nice sniper perch which is up a really tall tower and some moron with a pistol killed me with one shot. HOW could he even see me then how could he hit me? (He was on the ground btw)

Thats why I like single player. Usually the games don't cheat but people online do.
PS3 - It only DID everything, now it does A LOT LESS THAT IT DID.

Gamer, real life is just a hobby

I don't mind people who camp around some parts of the map i sometimes do it myself if i find a good area that overlooks the enemy.

The only thing a HATE is camping in the respawn areas, i can't stand people who do that, even if their on my team.

Re: Whats wrong with camping?

But that is the point, not everyone camps and the ones who are playing like retards are the ones who run around hell for leather in a warzone, the "campers" then whoop them because they are essentially to be shot because they have no idea what cover means. Yet the guy who gets himself killed through stupidly running around thinking he's Usain Bolt with AK-47 then calls the sniper a noob... game or not, a well organised team always beats the lone runners. That is where these games get suprisingly realistic, even Modern Warfare 2 when on hardcore

Re: Whats wrong with camping?

It takes the fun out of the game, at worst imagine 2 teams full of campers, game would go on forever until one side decided to walk into a trap..

Campers tend to be those who exploit glitches in the game such as one level in uncharted where a sniper could see whole map kill anyone without ever being seen..   Thats more exploiting..

Campers tend to ruin the fun for the casual gamer that wants to just run around kill and be killed, where is the fun in playing a game where you always end up being killed without ever seeing your enemy..

A lot of people play for fun not to be A nal about finding the place where the gfx cover you from the enemy but you can hit them without being seen.  Its not real life its a game.  In real life you camp because you know your not as good as the enemy in the open or your heavily outnuimbered.

Of course if your playing capture the flag or something then camping is almost a prerequesit to defending your base.

If your ordered over the trenches you go over the trenches, to stay behind and cower will get you shot for cowardice..

Re: Whats wrong with camping?

So as an expert sniper (movie watcher, family listener) you will know that real snipers shoot from a long distance, and in most cases a very long distance? They tend not to be hiding in a window just above where you might be standing, or in the corner of a room you might just happen to enter.

There is a big difference between sniping and random camping (staying in one hidden place for cheap kills)before the discussion can go much further.
