how's the experience of playing 3D games? does it matter how far are u from tv?

Ill give you a brief-ish rundown of my 2 weeks with the 40 inch 3D sammy.

First Wipeout HD in 3D looks ok but not awesome their is a lot of crosstalk plus the resolution is dropped to 720p and the framerate is halved so not great imo.

Secondly Super stardust HD - incredible full 1080p no framerate drops and th 3D itself is mezmerizing with boulder seeming to come from behind your ear. Also when your ship explodes it comes right at your face. The opening intro screen with the starfield makes you feel like your going into the television (not recommended when your drunk)

Avatar the Game, here the 3D is not stereoscopic it is side by side 3D which means the game splits into 2 screens and the TV re amalgametes them, unfortunately this halves the resolution. Also Their is a big performance drop, you can adjust the depth of the 3D and it relly is quite impressive but i found i got a bad headache with this turned on. Crap game as well (go collect some flowers) i mean cmon!

Motorstorm 3D rift- Now your talking awesome, no performance drops whatsoever! again the 3D can be adjusted i have found that i can play this with full strength 3D if i change the tvs settings to -1 optimization and 3D viewpoint to +5, i can eradicate 95% of the crosstalk. This game is just smegging incredible in 3D jumping down mountains gives you that rollercoaster feeling in your stomach, its that good!

Ive got one movie 3D blu ray and its cloudy meatballs, which is beautiful and the 3D gets more and more awesome as the film goes on.

This Tv also has an option to convert 2D to 3D, whilst it isnt in the same league as dedicated content, it can be quite amazing especially on fps and car games in fact what am i saying everything looks more depthy even coronation street!

As for your question im playing this 40" about 4 feet away (and it works beautifully) I would however heed the warnings definately take breaks at least every hour because i got up to go to the toilet once after an hour and i felt a bit queesy and dizzy. It went away but be careful.

All in all though the future wil be 3D.........

The diziness has been 1 of my main concerns, along side the cost. I want to be able to play me normal long hours on a 3D instead of crippling myself over time until I get used to the effects. I was going to buy a 3D TV, but this quote has opened my mind a bit to whether I should buy a good 1080p LED.:smileyindifferent:

Thanks a lot for your comment, because a lot of people have only been giving good reviews instead of these warnings:smileyhappy: This hasn't put me off a 3D TV completely, but thanks for sending out the warning anyway, because different people re-act differently to 3D, and I don't want to be in the majority/minority of people who feels queezy watching 3D:smileyhappy:

By the way, what does 2D to 3D conversion mean? I'm quite a noob to 3D, so I haven't really understood what 2D to 3D conversion is:smileyindifferent:

Buying 3D glasses will be a pain. I'm only 14, and being the empathetic son, I feel bad taking money off my parents, so I'm trying to earn money for the 3D TV this christmas. So far, I honestly have...£2.05:smileyindifferent: I don't even think I'll be able to afford the TV, let a lone the extra 4 pairs of glasses for the family (or 3 pairs if I do that Samsung connect thing):smileyindifferent:

2D to 3D is a option on your remote control to make any content into a quasi 3D image. So like i say if you wanted to watch Coronation street in 3D  youd just press this button on the remote and hey presto the image would have depth.

Don be too scared about my comments about dizzyness it went away literally 10 seconds after i got up. An ive found that the more you use 3D games the more you get used to it, however different people ave different reactions and its all about testing yourself with a unit. Which is why i went into comet and stood their watching a 3D demo for 20 minutes before i laid down the cash.

Re: Who there has a 3D TV?

From this moment onwards, I'm saving all the money I get to be able to afford a 3D TV of about 46", I probably won't have enough until way past Christmas time, but I'm still excited. :smileytongue:

There's one question I want to ask though, how long do the batteries in the glasses last? I heard the majority of glasses don't come with rechargeable batteries so you'd have to buy new ones and replace them when they die. It would be very troublesome if you had to replace the batteries every 8 hours or so, I'm hoping that isn't the case. How long do they really last? And has anyone had to change the batteries over yet?

The ones on my sammy are supposed to last 100 hours, although i havent logged anywhere near that yet. So no actual bench test result yet.
