WipEout HD delayed due to epilepsy test failure

Not sure if its been posted already as i had a look but couldnt see it anywhere, but found this over on PS3fanboy site

When SCEE president David Reeves said there were technical problems with WipEout HD, we really didn't know back then what that incurred. Now, according to CVG, the reason as to why the futuristic racer was slightly delayed is because it failed epilepsy testing.

Apparently, the dazzling flashes of ships rocketing at sub-light speeds is too much for those with the medical condition, and the game will be undergoing "re-engineering." It's unknown exactly how long a fix of this nature would take but, as Mr. Reeves had previously said, the game should "come out before the end of the year."

Surely people with epilepsy cant play any games, as they move fast and flash a lot.

Of course you do. Then if it triggers epilepsy in you that you didn't know you had you will be chuffed to bits to be taking pheno-barbitone and wondering when your next fit will be for the rest of your life.

What magic fun that will be.

Re: WipEout HD delayed due to epilepsy test failure

I have epilepsy and i have yet to be affected by flashing lights in video games. Then again the medication im on is pretty strong stuff lol.

If it's gonna affect people with epilepsy that badly then im glad they are taking the appropriate precautions to fix the game :smileyhappy:.

Agreed. I can understand why they would have wanted to keep this quiet if possible though, as it will inevitably affect sales as this will put an element of doubt in the minds of many who have epilepsy, or whose kids have epilepsy, as to whether or not to risk buying the final product, however safe if is.

Re: WipEout HD delayed due to epilepsy test failure

Let me just start by saying I have no intrest in this game but why go through all this hassle, why don't Sony just have a warning in the game handbook saying "warning game may cause epiletic fits". and then if anyone trys to sue them they can just say you should of read the health warnings.

In fact i think most games have warnings like this already.
