XMB waves videos for Vista animated desktops

Someone here was asking the other day if there was any way you can get the PS3 waves to show as an animated desktop (Dreamscene) on Windows Vista. As they didn't seem to be available anywhere I made these:

 




They're all 3-minute loops at 720p and are around 200MB each. They're MPEG2 format (but Zipped for download) and I've tried to balance the video quality so that they look good but don't drain too much of your PC's resources when they're running on your desktop.

 

Only Vista Ultimate Edition has the Dreamscene feature but if you've got any other version you can use something like VLC Player to run video as a desktop background.

 

Click on the name of the colour you want to use to download it.

dont suppose you could post a guide for people that dont know much about comps lol i want the blue one

If you have Vista Ultimate, it's just a case of  selecting the video in the Change Desktop Background window. If not, take a look here for VLC instructions.

I have ultimate it came on me laptop. Don't have a clue how to use anything and i didn't even know i had this feature. Interesting thanks!

i double clicked the file and its playing but i cant seem to set it as a background so i suppose i need to download that thing

Yes, they're just ordinary video files. You'll need to use VLC to play them as a desktop background if you don't have Ultimate. (see link above)

that guide you gave explains what to do with the XP ver of VLC is there a vista one it seems the options are different it says

 

Settings->preferences->playlists

 

but there is no playlist option i can see
