Xperia Play won’t support Ice Cream Sandwich

Sony Mobile has announced that it will not be releasing a build of Android 4.0 – Ice Cream Sandwich – for the Xperia Play. The company’s flagship gaming phone apparently couldn’t be made to support “a consistent and stable experience, particularly with gaming”. Android 4.0 will roll out across the rest of the Xperia range this week – but none of those have a proper D-pad installed. Woe.

Thanks, That VideoGame Blog.

I'm sure there's an unofficial rom for it if you really want it.

Re: Xperia Play won’t support Ice Cream Sandwich

Thanks for the help but don't risk it I read that a few things wont work so one of the 2 things that might happen

  •  they make Sony ericsson xperia play 2
  • or work more on ver 4 for the phone and come out on a later date

Re: Xperia Play won’t support Ice Cream Sandwich

Its normal for devices to get dumped from the line up for the next OS version release.

Sony won't be the only one to not allow upgrade.
