I find it kind of sad that a girl making a simple appeal for friends should warrant 4 pages of (mostly) sexist comments. Surely being a girl that plays games is not so unusual in this day and age?

Im ugly and have no chance of getting with any of the girls on the forum, So I'll be honest.

He/She didn't make a simple request for friends. He/She made a request for girl friends, because he/she claims to be a girl.

There is a difference. If being a girl gamer is no big deal and normal, then be normal, make friends with everyone, so the thread itself is sexist to begin with, whats wrong with having male gamer friends?

Make a sexist thread, get sexist replies. Make a racist thread get racist replies, its really that simple. However if anything really offends you, and I mean really, not just pretend offended. Then report it and the mods will whisk it away.

And if someone keeps making the comments, they will face stiffer and stiffer punishments.

Don't get me wrong, I'm standing for equal rights not special treatment, which is where a lot of would-be 'girlgamerz' seem to get confused. I would go so far as to say that I disapprove of the term 'girl-gamer'; why should there be that distinction? The qualities that I look for in online friends have everything to do with personality and nothing to do with gender- I don't have a problem gaming with anyone so long as they are a decent, friendly person- I've stated all this before in the 'girls that play CoD' thread on this forum. Unfortunately the harrasment and abuse I've received from guys- most browsing guests I will add, not registered forum members- has been terrible. I've been asked to do things I'm not gonna repeat on a kids-friendly forum, I've recieved topless pictures, I've even had one guy tell me in all seriousness: 'I have mad respect for girl gamers, I think it's sexy.' All of which has been reported. I find it slightly insulting that you would suggest my offense is 'pretend'- do you have any idea what it's like to log on to your PS3 and recieve such messages?

I struggle to understand why you think this thread is sexist and thus warrants the majority of the comments here: This thread is not sexist because it contains a mention of someone's gender. It may be unecessary in the distinctions it makes, fair comment and I would not disagree with you there. However, someone asking for female friends in what is an essentially male-dominated environment is not even in the same category as someone telling said person to 'get back in the kitchen' or any of the other inane comments- sorry, jokes- posted here.

I don't mean to be argumentative or sound like a bore but this is an issue that boils my blood and on a huge forum such as this one with so many avid gamers I couldn't let it pass without saying something.
