My ps3 is amazing so far its been working perfectly however i have noticed on some dvds it hums and vibrates a bit while loading the disc but when its on it it works fine but it does not give me this problem when using blu ray or game is this just that the dvd player was not really designed for normal dvds?

Yea, its completely normal. Its to do with the rotation speed of the disc. DVDs and CDs seem to rotate faster on PS3. You should hear the sound when you rip a CD, sounds like the PS3 is gonna take off.

I took mine to a mates one night drunk and knocked it over boy did it hum when I first put it on back at my house I was slightly worried until it died down after 10 seconds or so.

But yes it does hum naturally when you boot the console, or a Blu-ray/DVD.

More and more you'll find that discs are imbalanced. It only takes a small discrepancy for the disc to vibrate.
As manufacturing processes go mass-market, the quality control lessens, so expect this problem not to go away.

I've noticed Blu-Rays make less noise on mine.

for me its blu rays and games that are fine but some dvds are loud but then quiet down when it loads the media
