I have owned my playstation 3 virtually since the day they were released.
I've always played games through hdmi cable on my tv. All of a sudden the game is not recognizing the hdmi cable and is immediately going to 1080p 24 hz vision.
i keep changing the settings in the video sub menu to display hdmi on the screen but after 5 seconds it goes straight back to 1080 vision. i have used a number of different hdmi cords but still not luck.
PLEEASE help guys

have you tried another HDMI port on your TV (most TVs have more than one)?

Do a hard reset of the video out.
Turn PS3 on, hold down on/off button till it beeps 3 times, this will make sure that the video output is set to the type of video cable connected.
It's a type of fail-safe built into the PS3 software.
Comes in handy if you have ever changed video cable types and run into the"catch 22" situation of not being able to change the video cable output type in the menu, because the cable type is now different and your screen is blank.
It could also be that a setting on your TV have accidentally been changed, if so, and if your PS3 is set to "Auto-detect" that could be the reason you PS3 keeps reverting to a setting you don't want.
