Ya, the slims are quite loud, but with the better ventilation system and wifi adapter, and the fact that its still quieter than an xbox 360....im not complaining

Ye mine does this and I have the latest slim (CECH-3003a model) That noise is basically your ps3 upscaling to hd. And to run it in hd the disk have to spin faster (This only does this on DVD's) The slim makes all sorts of noises which is normal, so if it works its fine

Which version Xbox 360 are you talking about. The original model or the current S model. I got the original white 360 and the MW3 Limited Edition 360 (S model). I also got the original 60gb PS3 and a Final Fantasy 13 Lightning Edition PS3. Out of the 4 consoles, I found that the MW3 360 to be the quietest out of the 4, especially when the game is installed into the hard drive. The second quietest is my FF13 Lightning Edition PS3, third is the white 360 when the game is installed to the hard drive then forth is my original 60gb PS3. It's not my Blu-ray drive that is loud on my original PS3, it's the fan. Once I switched on my system for 10 minutes the fan just goes full speed and hardly slows down.

the blu ray drive also lets out a continous click high pitched sorta fing evry half second maybe its pretty quite cant hear it unless i am close to it lyk 10 20 cm away is that normal??
