Re: transfer data from one ps3 to another

Connect both ps3 With Ethernet cable. Then go to system setting/data transfer and follow the instruction
Yes you must activate the new ps3 first: network - account management - system activation

Re: transfer data from one ps3 to another

Actually not, need the internet only for activate it, besides they not necessary to connect the new console with your tv, And remember when the data transfers to new console, automatic delete all from the old. I bought the new slim console to transfer everything for the 80gb ps3 just for back up... and when i saw this warning.... the new ps3 slim is in the box for months i don't open it yet lol

Re: transfer data from one ps3 to another

I've done the data transfer via CAT5 a number of times, and not once has the data from the source PS3 been deleted.

All I had on the PS3 before transfer were saves, game data and PSN downloads if that matters. So I'm not sure what the "Automatic Delete" process might delete?

What I didn't try to do, was activate both...... but I see no reason why you couldn't activate both as you are allowed content on 5 PS3s at any one time.
