xbox 360 vs PS3 (for gamers who own both consoles and non fanboys)

So the PS3 had a rocky start and no one can deny it, with a hefty price tag and not many games to back it up it was clear that the xbox 360 dominated the this generation of gaming to begin with. But now that the PS3 has come into it's own with it's great exclusives and almost on par multi platform games - which do you prefer? which do you think is better?

For me, the PS3 offers the best value for money for it's Blu-ray and it's free online service but I still prefer the Xbox 360. I find the online service far superior and I just generally find myself playing it more  and having more fun. Possibly because I have more friends with an Xbox 360 and the majority of my favourite games play better on the Xbox 360.

I enjoy both.

I don't have a faverate.

A few years ago I would have chosen the 360 hands down, but now they are both on par for me.

Sony are stabbing their loyal family customers in the back - We have 3 PS3s and 3 PSPs all on the same IP address and all registered with Sony. Why can't we use them at the same time anymore?

Just to point out the obvious here (which it seems many stupid people seem to have trouble grasping), the Xbox launched 16 months BEFORE the PS3, when it launched, it too had very few decent games.

The media went Sony bashing, that the PS3 had no decent games, and the Xbox had loads, and totally ignored the 16month lauch difference.  Even an idiot should be able to work out that you can't compare a new system on the market, to that of an established system, but it seems the media couldn't work this out (or found it was in their interests to ignore it intentionally).

Go look back at what games the Xbox launched with and compare them with what titles the PS3 launched with, there is little to seperate them, but I would say the PS3 actually had the better launch titles.

The PS3 has globally outsold the Xbox in sales every single year it's been on the market, and it has reduced Microsofts initial 16 months/9m unit "headstart" to nothing.   I think that achievement speaks for itself.

Actually for the lazy, I will give you a list of launch titles:

True, but then again, both consoles are doing pretty well, and it'd be nice to see what everyone thinks now that nearly everyone has both consoles.

My first next gen console was actually the Wii, and I never played first person shooters before then or anything like that, so I never really acknowledged the Xbox 360. I also had a PS2 before that, and it was a dream to think that I could get a PS3, especially when I saw how real the graphics were going to look.

So anyway, there are a few ways to break it down

  • Online multiplayer
  • Online services- Xbox 360, cross chat, no trophy sync, more accesability for services, however, PS3 features an internet browser, which is so useful for my personal needs!
  • Ease of General Use- PS3, the xmb is so easy to navigate compared to the new xbox experience
  • Graphics- PS3, just look at Killzone 3 and Uncharted 2...wow!
  • Online store- Xbox 360, offer more games on demand, easier to use imo
  • Controller- Tie, I like the heaviness of the Xbox 360, but the PS3 does not need batteries, has tilt motion, and the controllers are nicer, so I'm a leave this as a tie
  • Design- PS3, all models look more stunning that the Xbox 360
  • Games- PS3, I'd take little big planet over viva pinata any day!
  • Customization- PS3, dynamic themes, themes can be made by anyone,
  • More prone- PS3, especially with the new hack out right now

Overall, I prefer the PS3. Its slick, easy to use, and I love its graphics and power.

PS3 FTW!

It was only 12 months, Nov 05 for 360 and Nov 06 for PS3.

but the title says non fanboys!

It will be nice and friendly for a couple of pages, then turn into war.

Interesting discussion up until that point though...
