5.1 Surround Sound

Hi

I have a problem with my surround sound system and wondered if anybody had any suggestions on how to fix it. I have connected my ps3 to my surround sound system using an optical cable but I still only get sound from the front left and right speakers. I have the bd audio output format optical digital set to bitstream direct and the audio output to optical cable 5.1. Can anybody shed some light on how to fix this?

Thanks

Tom

Re: 5.1 Surround Sound

Evening

Try this see if it works, in BD audio output set it to bitstream mix.

And then go down to sound settings/ audio output settings/optical digital/ tick dolby digital 5.1 ch & don't

tick any other boxes, there will be two boxes ticked linear PCM 2 Ch 44.1 khz & 48 khz, these will be greyed

out. Save those settings thats what my settings are. See if that works.

Let us know how you get on

Hi , i have had various audio\visual problems in the past myself , so i'll see if i can help.

What 5.1 system are you using? does it have arc? (audio return channel).

When you are using the ps3 what does it say on your thatre system panel?

What games are you playing?

Lets try that for starters , cheers

[ Edited ]

You need to connect the sound bar to the audio OUT from the TV not the PS3 audio out.

PS3 to TV

Then

TV permanent audio out connection to Sound bar/Amps.

If the sound bar only has 1 input then you can only connect it to the TV.

If it has a secondary input then you can connect that to PS3 and select that input to hear PS3 audio only while TV is off..   (aka music only not video)

Very few HDTVs have HDMI audio out. normaly Optical or Phono/RCA.
