Re: BBC Sport App Beta on PS3

Liking the app but a few issues to point out:

- The "Enter" button on the Playstation TV remote or Sync'd Bravia remote doesn't work. You can navigate but can't select anything. Both work fine with the iPlayer.

- Lack of HD feed is annoying, SD looks pretty terrible on big TV's these days

Re: BBC Sport App Beta on PS3

Hope this is a bug and not a sign of the poor coverage being provided at this time.

The F1 live feed advert in the red button app is only showing the start time for Sundays race.

Not the Live practice or qualifying. Hope this is a mistake and not the fact that Tennis is the only live feeds for friday and Saturday on this app...

The reason im asking is because Sat boxes have both Tennis and F1 listed as airing Live via red button on....

Saturday 7 July
Tennis - Wimbledon 2012
1150-2100 Extensive live coverage with a choice of extra courts from SW19.
Formula 1 - British Grand Prix
0950-1110 Practice Three: Live coverage from Silverstone with commentary from the BBC Radio 5 live team.
1255-1405 Qualifying: Live coverage from Silverstone with alternative commentary from the BBC Radio 5 live team. (Not available on Freeview)
1255-1405 Qualifying driver tracker - Follow the position of all the drivers on the track.

Re: BBC Sport App Beta on PS3

A few problems,

Olympics clips are gone as is the Live feed advert. ( Hope that's planned down time. )

F1 Advert for live feed is gone hope that's being up dated for Qualifying on Saturday.

Tennis well it rained so gave up following that but its the only one with a live feed advert.

Re: BBC Sport App Beta on PS3

So F1 & tennis are over.

Olympics only live event to come.

This is what the App was built for coverage of the torch starts on Monday 23 July...

HD bit rate needs to be improved. The Golf in HD isn't very good.

HD will never be 1080p 10Mb/s as that is not viable for BT ADSL connections and no providers will be able to justify that.

The best you will get is 720p at 3.5 Mb/s.

Even If the BBC were to provide that, most red button content Will not be a HD feed as its provided for the FREEVIEW RED button system.

Even SKY Don't provide all red button feeds in HD.

So don't Expect BBC to do that with all live feeds either.

Re: BBC Sport App Beta on PS3

Anyone having trouble with the HD feed?

Can start the feed but in under 10 secs, it freezes requireing me to back out of the feed and reselect to start it again.  No problems with SD, expect it's a blurry mess. :smileysad:

Currently, my net speed is a sustained 10mb down (just measured).

I thought the beta had an update today?  Was this a backend update only?

[ Edited ]

Back end only no Application update yet. Which means you have no controll over the quality of the feed.

Which is bad for those on a BT bandwidth capped service.

(The audio is still broken over optical DTS/DD5.1 which sould have been the first bug fix.)
