CD Ripping Question...

Recently I discovered when I rip a music cd to my PS3 it has a look online, then names all the tracks, album, artist, the full works, which is fine.

When I then connect my xperia phone to my PS3 and transfer some of this music across to it, I couldn't seem to find any of it.

After a search I found that all the song titles, artists, etc had been replaced with ???. Anyone else had this or know why it's doing it?

It's probably going to mean I just put music on there from my pc instead... but would be nice if it worked (and I'm sure it has done in the past)

The data the PS3 downloads Is not Stored in the File. Its stored in the PS3 HDD File system only.

The files remain unaltered from when they were Ripped of the CD.

When the data is transfered its likely transfered in a way that your phone can't read. unlike A USB HDD...

I just done a quick google search and the PS3 does create ID3 tags so all the album, artist and info should be stored correctly with the mp3.

Check your setting of the cd ripping in the XMB and see what format your ripping to as there are 3 options.

If your ripping to mp3 then you have a different issue and it may be that the ps3 is ripping in an incompatible id3 format and the phone isnt able to read the info.

I'm not sure if the other formats contain any metadata tags or id3 tag

Re: CD Ripping Question...

cheers for the replies, as far as I know its ripping them to mp3 at 128kbps, but will have to check it tonight.

It's not too bad though, I get to listen to all sorts of stuff now and have no idea whats next!
