Well after having my launch ps3 slim for 3 years since from 2009. The blu-ray drive has finally gone. So went out today to get a new ps3 slim. At the moment I am backing up my data on a usb hard drive from the old slim one. Then will transfer my data on my new slim later on.

You know you can connect both consoles together through ethernet cables and transfer that way just go to data transfer utility in system settings.

Finally got my new ps3 slim sorted now. I am happy with this new model

You could easily buy a replacement lens from eBay or something, open up your ps3 and replace it yourself. There's even intruction available from the seller or on YouTube. All for less than £50 the last time I changed mine about one and a half years ago.

I perfer to be a new one to be honest. Than messing around opening up the ps3. Because I am no DIY expert and Its less the hassle. But thanks for the suggestion.

I got a new bluray player for £48 all in inc delivery.

As long as you swap the bridge board over everything is fine.

What Slim model did you get because if you got 320GB I would be careful with putting in disks and ejecting because mine broke loads because of that and for some reason this only seemed to happen when playing CoD - Gave up on CoD for now

I don't know If it had anything to do with the PS3 getting to hot or what but I always kept it in a Ventilated position, I Wish they still made the FAT models because they were the best ever and now they got lazy and made cheap slims

but yeah just a heads up
