What is needed is a "Store" item that people can purchase in a Home store while signed into Playstation home network. Such as a "Boom Box" or similiar music playback app. This "device" for the lack of a better name could then be utilized by the owner to "download their very own music into it" by any number of ways, memory stick, direct from a computer, I phone etc whatever. This "personal" boom box, then could be put in anyone's personal space they own, and played so anyone else visitors, guests there can also hear the music. The concept is so simple, I don't understand why it is not made an item to purchase just like clothing or furniture for spaces you own.
In fact- I'm sure the technology exists to do this- the problem is any "copyright laws" or other legal niceities that may arise from playing private music inside a GAME such as Playstaion Home Network is. But that theory I believe also can be defeated, because YOU will OWN this boombox item, just like you OWN a game. And You OWN the private Space it can be placed in... lol... The complexity of it actually are legal issues of copyrighted music- but even THAT is ... its YOUR music YOU own and purchased or in some cases downloaded otherwise, and it's YOUR boom box- so I don't really see what the issue is with it at all? We could have a much more functional experience here if only some very simple steps are taken and I believe we will some day- after all its already been confirmed "Pigs do fly" at Red Bull Beach... right?

Try this. You don't have to register
The usual disclaimer.
"Please don't shut us down"
"we don't hold these files on our servers"
"We just link to them"
Does that realy work if they get to big.

I used my iPod to shoot music over, or my phone sometimes. I ain't sure if you can downloaded straight to the PS3 but anything USB or CD will go on.
Can you use beemp3 on the ps3? 0.o

Bottom line is , if you want free music you will have to trawl the internet for unsigned bands.
I can be a bit of a media nerd , so have had LOTS of experience with these issues , i was a bad man and used edonkey many moons ago to download mp3 files.. DONT DO THIS!! as people do get caught , i was that one in a million and got fined 3 grand not for the download but for the uploading , and i only had about a hundred songs !!.
If i do want to try before i buy then i use youtube downloader\converter , but the results vary in quality and volume. Its then a trip to itunes or amazon, then either..
a) put them on sd card and copy to my ps3 using my nyko media hub slim (with sd card slot) (quickest for me)
b) stream them and then copy via the playstation media server (which should connect wirelesly to your laptop via the music folder)
c) slap them on a usb stick or hdd and copy across
d) rip a cd using the ps3.
and many other ways as described on here.
Its easier just to spend a couple of quid and buy some music , its so much less hassle. And we all know how much time we use once we start to get a bee in our bonnet about searching for something on google etc. (if your as obsessive as me)
