Hi all

When I use PS3 media server or tversity I can't get the ps3 to display subtitles i.e. when watching a file push triangle select sub title options and it says theres no subtitles even though I can play this file fine with ms media player on my computer with subtitles.

Any ideas and solutions

As far as I know only PS3 Meida server can play subtitiles.
Dont know why it is not working fo you...check teh settings in teh media sever see if there is an option to display subtitles. Also make sure the subtitile file is in the same folder and has the same name as the video you are trying to watch. I asume you are trying to watch a film stored on your pc?

also make sure that subtitles are in srt/asc format ^^

On ps3 media server goto transcode settings & make sure you haven't checked the box to disable subtitles, If that is blank go into Mencoder settings at the botton there is a box for autoloading subs check box & it should be ok.

The problem lies with Sony, they don't support subtitles through DNLA (Yet) (which is the protocol the PS3 uses for streaming media).. And I guess it won't for a while because I think they don't care about subtitlesupport as most movies are in their own native language..

The only way for now is letting PS3MS transcode the subtitle, but that means you need a good computer which will be able to keep up..

Create a folder, put the movie in the folder, and the subtitles into the same folder (on pc)

Now when you go to play it on ps3, you should get options to 'play with subtitle'.

Also, as above, needs to be srt format or the other one?
