PS3 Network Drive Media

Hi

I have a 1TB Western Digital network Drive 3 weeks ago this worked perfectly with the PS3 and i was able to play movies/music from it on the PS3 all of a sudden it has stopped working. I can access the WD drive from a laptop and stream from it without a problem so i don't think it's the drive.

When ever i search for media servers it picks up MyBookWorld but if i go into the Video/Pictures/Music folder it comes up saying there are no titles.

I've downloaded TVersity which allows me to now turn my laptop into a media server and stream again to the PS3 but it only works if my laptop is turned on.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experienced the same issues?

Chris

It will be the drives firmware and data tables.

DLNA coding is not he same as FTP, UPnP AV, Bonjour, HTTPS and all of the other files transfer technology.

As you have seen with TVersity when it uses DLNA it creates its own index of files unlike most of the other technology above that use only the limited info from the OS HDD index.

And you've proven its not the PS3 as you have said TVersity DLNA  media server  works that leaves the Drives version of the media server firmware at fault.

Western digital are actually your best bet.

All others can do is just repeat your whats in the manual about resetting the drive firmware to factory conditions.

Hope fully that can restore the Data.

( Could be worse, you could be using WMP. Once that starts corrupting index files it always does..)

Re: PS3 Network Drive Media

Cheers.

I did upgrade the firmware on the drive at the weekend but it didn't make a difference. there is a resert button on the back of the drive but I've lost the manual and scared doing with will format the HDD. 500GB of music and another 500GB of movies it too much to lose lol
