Re: PS3 won't play 1080p?!?!?!

Hi, I'm having the same problem. I play Call of Duty Black Ops and graphics look how you have explained. yet my mates 360 displays it clear on a HD ready TV at 1080i, I've brought another HDMI cable from Game and still no difference. cant see y it'll be my tv coz its a LG 42SL9500 that cost £1000 and its 1080p full hd LED backlit TV it's a pretty new one out. ***** is the prob? all my ps3 settings are set right got all the 720p, 1080i and 1080p boxes ticked. The homescreen on the ps3 looks like its displaying in 1080p my black ops looks like its a ps2 (really s**t) I only got my ps3 yesterday (i got trade in on my 360 and the graphics were ok on my 360 but not on my ps3) it's starting to bug me now

Re: PS3 won't play 1080p?!?!?!

I am also having the problem with black ops. Its weird though because before (for about 2 months) I was playing in full HD and full 3D (im using a 3D TV).

About 2 days ago I switched my HDMI cable to my friends xbox and everything was HD, then when I plugged it back into my PS3 black ops wasnt HD anymore. I noticed right away. Everything looked blocky. I fiddled around with the settings, changed display settings to custom and it worked again. BUT

Yesterday black ops froze, and when I restarted my system the game downscaled the resolution again. I can defintley notice because I have been playing games in full HD since boxing day when I bought everything. I tried other games and they all look downscaled too (especially god of war 3 where the graphics were amazing in full 1080). Its a bit harder for me to tell with movies, but they dont seem to be playing at 1080 either. I tried to do the same thing I did last time, but its not working. Games that used to look very 3D when playing no longer have the same effect (probably due to the downscaling?)

I've tried restarting all default settings and hooking everything up to a different TV. Neither of those worked.

Why would the PS3 all of a sudden drop the ability to play in HD? Then get it back? Then loose it again and not be able to get it back? No idea. Im going to call sony tomorrow.

Just thought id post here because its really the only forum I found where people have had similar problems.

I hope its not the PS3 because I dont have the recipt for it. haha

Re: PS3 won't play 1080p?!?!?!

Hi guys.

Just a lil question here; I got a Sony KDL32BX300 32', otherwise known as the sainsburies £280 TV. Now basically, everyone says it does not support 1080p, and even the Sainsburies site says the same, however, when I plug my PS3 in to it and select 1080p as one of my options, I can see the screen clearly. Not only that, but when I start up the PS3, the top of the screen comes up with a quick black box saying 1080p

Whats going on :smileyfrustrated:

Heres the link to the TV:

Re: PS3 won't play 1080p?!?!?!

I also have this issue with my brand new tv, ps3 and hdmi cable. I even had a game that was honest and said it only played in 1080i yet it still plays in 720p for some reason.
