PS3 wont detect my laptop as Media server... :/

1 Reply 3,440 Views Created 26-11-2010

Hi, so first I would like to point out that I have had a PS3 detect a media server before so I know the basics to get it done. The problem is I still cant get my PS3 to connect to my Windows 7 laptop due to some settings. I had to do a few changes to get my connetion NAT type to Open a while ago which may be causing a problem but I dont know lol. Anyway its seems there is something stopping my PS3 detecting my laptop, it detects the downstairs comp fine. I have no idea what settings I need to change, I have even gone into advanced sharing and enabled my PS3's MAC address. Still no luck. Be greatful for any help that can be provided. :smileysad:

There are a number of things that may be causing this issue.

1st thing Id check is the firewall on your laptop. Simplest thing to do is turn it off temporarily, then search for servers on the PS3. If this works, youll need to open a port in your firewall. If not....keep looking.

Good luck.
