PlayMemories & 3D

Holy Mad Cows From Heck!

I'm in love with 3D photography.

Seriously. Wow.

Anyone know where one can download more 3D photos?

Please use plain text.

Re: PlayMemories & 3D

I have been converting all my 3D photos to .mpo format to work on the PS3, but a good source is 3dphoto.net forums.
You will need to convert jpg etc (often in Left/RIght format) into .mpo with Stereo Photo Maker (a free download, google it).
Have fun!

What TV are you using to view them?

Re: PlayMemories & 3D

Pyrofer,

Thanks for the tip. I don't run Mac or Windows, so I can't really run Stereo Photo Maker, but I'll see if I can get a friend of mine to run it for me. Now, to start taking some photos. :smileyhappy:

As for the TV, I have a Panasonic TX-P50VT20.

I can't believe more people haven't been making noise about the PlayMemories 3D photos. They are fantastic!

Re: PlayMemories & 3D

Sony kind of slipped it under the radar to help support their new cameras, however I think they should go all out with it.

It needs to be more integrated!
How about adding the 3D .mpo support to the native photo viewer? Why do I have to run a program to view photos at all, they appear on the main screen anyway.

Taking 3D with any cam is easy if the subject doesnt move. Take left image, move camera right 3 inches (or more for distant objects) take right image.
then use software to make the .mpo (Stereo Photo maker is free but others may work).

You can also do video, pan to the right then pick single frames from the video to export and use as left/right.

Can we have some Stereo 3D Video support too now sony? Please?
I have at least one downloaded video from the PS Store that works in 3D, how about some details on how to make them and what format its in etc?

Re: PlayMemories & 3D

I can see PlayMemories works good on the panaramic shots...  I don't have a 3D TV though... the shot that's like an 'object' view, where it moves with the DS3, can someone tell us how that was done,  the file type etc.?

I've done a few shots like that, that display on a cpu, I was wondering if they could be converted to work on PlayMemories

Re: PlayMemories & 3D

Just found this thread after doing a google search, so has anyone noticed if you go into photomode on wipeouthd (when 3d enabled) it exports a mpo file that is just renamed .jpg

Strange thing is neither untouched or renamed to mpo it cant be read in playmemories app but shows the 3d icon on thumbnail inside the app

Re: PlayMemories & 3D

Sounds like Wipeout isnt exporting properly. an MPO file needs to contain at least 2 images, one for left and one for right. If you say its just a renamed .jpg (thats 2d only!) then it won't work. Can you post the file here or somewhere for me to look at and see whats going on?

Hey Pyrofer.

I never thought to try looking at Wipeout HD images to see if the standard photo viewer is just seeing the left hand image.

I might export one later and take a gander.

If you like the photo's and have a little spare cash, buy yourself a fujifilm W3 3D digital camera. I bought one for £220 brand new on ebay and it's brilliant.

I dont have the pictures to send/show you becuase I deleted them off my camera and PC, but they are still in playmemories, and playmemories doesn't have an export feature.

I went to The Deep aquarium in Hull last week and took loads of 3D pictures. Some are good, some are naff and some are outstanding.

Re: PlayMemories & 3D

2 Problems with PlayMemories:

1. No native 3D video playback for camera's other than Sony's.

2. Once photo's have been imported, you cannot backup or export them.

I have seen toothbrushes.

Some of those pictures are, as you say, outstanding. Many thanks for sharing!
