I have just been called from Sony support about my on-going issues telling me to make sure that I have patch 2.02 as that fixes all the issues.
I said I have been on 2.02 and have had 2 failures since and that the issues were exactly as others were reporting. I even told them that some people were experiencing the failures around the same time and that there must be a trigger for the failures as it was more than just a coincidence.

I made reference to the 2.03 patch and she was not aware that one was being worked on......

She is going to speak with the PlayTV team tomorrow and give me a call back to let me know. I will post what she says.

Hmmmm strange as another forumer said that when he called them up they said they were working on another patch

Re: Playtv 2.02 a crock of

I have now been contacted by Phil Trott @ Sony UK (0844 7360595) to discuss the issues with PlayTV.
He took some detailed notes about the issues and was going to escalate the ongoing issues. He said he was quite happy to speak with other people on this forum to discuss their issues also.
He will get back in touch with me when he has some further updates.

Re: Playtv 2.02 a crock of

I just wanted to say a big thank-you to accman68 and others for all the effort you're putting in, on behalf of the silent majority, to push this issue forward.

I'm one (of surely, many, many people), who are now running PlayTV on version 1.0 (straight off the original installation disc) after having suffered an extremely frustrating two days of PlayTV freezing at launch, re-installations, lost recordings, upgrades to v2.01 or v2.02 followed by more freezing (rinse-and-repeat until deciding to stick on v1.0).

I'm shocked that Sony don't seem to have been aware of the problems, and the need to patch further than v2.02. I'm glad that it is now on their radar.

Keep us posted, and if there's anything that I can do, please just say (eg. badgering Sony, performing certain steps in PlayTV etc).

Cheers again,

Toast

Re: Playtv 2.02 a crock of

Thank you for your comments. To me its nice to have somewhere like this where we can atleast determine that it is not a fault which is unique to your own system as you know you would just get the standard have you tried switching it on and off again reply.

Hopefully you will have seen the comments on:
http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-3-Media/Play-TV-2/td-p/11862636/page/20

Please write a letter... please call Phil if you have not already and make sure that you demand a refund for the faulty update. As you will see I have got a refund and so have others. The best way to make things happen is to hurt them financially!

Mines just died and I lost all my TV recordings for Xmas........ :-(

Remember to go and write a review on PlayTV ..... I had some glowing references which I have amended as I wouldn't want anyone to buy into the dream only to find they bought a bag of nails.

http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/Technical-Help/Help-my-Play-tv-has-died/m-p/12178666/highligh...

Don't shoot me if you all know this... but having read the above forum post I just deleted the saved game data and hey presto was able to go straight back into PlayTV. You have to go through the setup questions but at least you don't have to reinstall from the original disk. It took me back to 2.02 and kept my series link update. You still lose your recordings..... :-(
One thing that was commented on also on the above forum was data size. Can everyone post the size of the PlayTV game data when it crashes to see if there is a limit that is stopping the program. My system crashed with 30GB of recordings. It would be so nice to see if there is a pattern to the crashes.

My partner also suggested we should all send a stroppy email to Sony and cc the email to watchdog@bbc.co.uk We know how Sony love Watchdog after their report on the YLOD issue..... Possibly if Watchdog see enough emails coming through then it may just get their attention.... and Sony may possibly get the Cambridge developers to do a little bit of overtime to sort their mess out.

I am going to set my Playtv to record 30 hours of TV just to see if the system crashes at 30GB again.

Re: Playtv 2.02 a crock of

Hi All,

I have encounetered the same problem:

I've had PlayTV for four months, updated to the new software, V2.02, before Christmas and this afternoon, January 8th 2011, PlayTV hangs on the load screen, with only the logo visible.

I restarted the PS3 a number of times, both hard and soft but to no avail, the same problem keeps occurring.

I called Playstation UK support and was told to delete and reinstall PlayTV, however I'm reluctant to do so, as I'll lose all my recorded programmes. I don't think the guy on the other end really understood what I was on about, despite careful explanation.

I think it's back to the TV's own Freeview for the time being, until a patch is released or I lose patience and delete everything.

Just in case you're wondering, I'm using:

PS3 40Gb

Upgraded to 320Gb HDD

There are a number of other threads discussing this, where I've also posted the above info:

PlayTV update bug?

Play TV 2

Play TV not working after upgrade to play TV 2.02 (also CD player not accessible when using 2.02)

Re: Playtv 2.02 a crock of

I've had this problem since day 1, I'm on my second loss of data and I thought I'd share my experiences from the past few months. Had a number of chats with Sony, and their silly help-desk of no matter the problem we will send you an email asking you to call us. They are aware of the problem and working on a fix. I expect the fix is playtv 2! Anyway their recommendation is NOT to upgrade and stay on 1.0. Yes even if you have paid £6. I've found you can avoid the issue by moving movies etc to the home screen. It also makes them quicker to access! This points to a hard drive space in the update. I've had the issue on both 40gb and 320gb ps3 both with lots of free space. I've updated again but lost the last series of primeval :smileysad:

Re: Playtv 2.02 a crock of

This IS PlayTv 2, No new Hardware. That will require PlayTv 4.
