Can I play Region 1 NSTC discs on my UK Playstation 3?

Connected by HDMI if that makes a difference...

Not from the DVD

If you own the DVD. (not rented or borrowed) It is now LEGAL in the UK to do a FORMAT to FORMAT conversion. ( Law changed in 2011) digital copy Versions are nolonger needed in UK you can make them your self... and keep them for your own personal use only. 

This means you can now legaly in UK.

Put the DVD in to PC.

Use handbrake to Convert it to APPLE TV M4V setting.

This will create a M4V with AC3 (DD5.1)and H264 Video.

You can then play this in from any medias ( DVD-rom, USB memory stick, Media server )  

This includes using online storage for remote viewing.

got some ntsc 1 region dvds, it does work on ps3....

Region 1 DVDs.... WILL NOT... work on Region 2 PS3 and the PS3 will Show a VERY clear regional Miss match warning.

Pirate and counterfit  Region 1 DVDs will play on Region 2 PS3 as they will have broken the Region lock during the copy process.

Region 0/Region free DVDs will also play as they have no Region lock... thats what region 0 was designed for...

i have one that works waterworld (with dts). and it works just because it happens to be r1+r2 disc (checked on pc). no mention of r2 on disc or case.
