Difficult choice this and based on a hypothetical example.

Choice 1:

£3.99 retail DVD delivered you can play this on any DVD player with the added bonus of DD 5.1/DTS, rip it to any format compatible with any portable device you own and even get some resale value if you get bored with the film.

Choice 2:

Pay up to possibly £11.99 for the same film from vid store, have it tied to your PSN acc and be riddled with DRM, 2 channel audio and inferior video quality.

I know this isnt groundbreaking knowledge here but you have to be a complete idiot if you buy anything from the vid store. IMO its the biggest waste of time sony have ever implemented on the PS3 from a buy to own perspective. The rentals do have a little potential but again they have priced themselves out of the market when you can have a disc version in all its DTS and higher quality video glory.

If anyone tries to defend Sony and their pricing model for buy to own then they are either a/ have more money than sense or b/ a complete idiot.

Your wrong, Millions of 3 inch screen movie players. Allready Prove QUALITY does not matter. Price does not matter that much.
Convenence for the millions of Users of the 3inch screen players Over rides all other factors. Sony just wanted in on it as well.
Ipod Movies, mobile phone movies, Zune movies, DivX mobile players And Now the PSP (finaly has a movie system that actualy works instead of using Minidisk mk2)
People are going to use it. Itunes And Amazon HAVE proved that in other markets areas. Itunes Even has movies in the UK.
