Hi, sorry it's another hard drive question. Anyone know if SATA 300 drives are compatible with PS3, I quite fancy this....

A SATA 300 interface is more commonly known as a SATA II interface which the PS3 is compatible with. TBH I'd go for 320gb HDD which only costs £7 more on ebuyer.

I would have a go now at removing the screws on the HDD caddy in the PS3, it's better that you are patient while waiting for delivery and trying to loosen them now rather than doing it all when the HDD arrives... if you are rushing to put it in and see the results then you might end up rounding off the heads of the screws!

Well for the record that's me a few hours in to life with the above WD HDD and all seems well (touch wood). Swapping them over was ok also, i was very careful with the screws! Spent most of the time trying to re-format  my external HDD so the ps3 would recognise and i could back up my data. My comp said it was fat32 but still the ps wouldn't reconise it. Followed the instructions on the link below ( if anyone has a similar problem) and once done my ps recognised it. Then i just had to wait an hour and a bit well it backed up!

Anyways, happy days, thanks for the help and tips folks
