System Deactivation/Activation question

Hello. I'm looking into getting another one of Sony's brilliant PS3 machines so I can play with my brother, and would like to know if I deactivate one PS3 to use another, will it work right? I have 2 consoles already in use right now: Mine and my cousins. Here's a scenario to clear things up: I go to use the deactivated PS3 to download a game, so I turn ONE of my other currently ACTIVATED PS3s on to deactivate IT so I can ACTIVATE the new PS3 to grab my games. Then after I'm done I deactivate the new PS3 and re-activate my older one. Can I keep the deactivated console deactivated and I play my games on the HDD? Or do I have to have it activated to play the games as well? Thanks in advance!

You are only allowed 2 active consoles were you live. You are not allowed any active consoles when you are no longer at a location, when you leave a location you dont live at you are required to deactivate account BEFORE you leave.

When you leave your house you will need to deactivate your account on 1 of the PS3s. YES

When you leave the new location you have to deactivate your account at the new location, YES, so that your old house can have 2 active again.

You also can not be online on 2 PS3s with the same PSN ID. So all other PS3s need to be ofline to sign in... yes, correct..

You can use DLC if the account is deactivated. NO. DLC requires account active.

Re: System Deactivation/Activation question

So you're saying that DLC or games I have downloaded must have an active console to play? So if I have my cousin deactivate my profile on his console when he ain't using it to play my downloaded games, it won't affect him right? Thanks for replying to my last post!

Re: System Deactivation/Activation question

Your cousin should not have your account on his console when you're not physically at his location, so thanks for admitting to content sharing. Hope you both enjoy your bans when they come.

I didn't know it wasn't legal. I'll stop. I didn't know about the "same location" stuff. I did research before doing this, and nobody told me banning was an option or I wouldn't have done it.

Re: System Deactivation/Activation question

I have read and heard many things about sharing, and I thought the whole reason for Sony only allowing 2 consoles instead of 5 meant that they thought 5 was too many. I have never heard of the things you two have posted. Anyways, when I start working, I won't need to share. I'll be able to buy my own stuff.

I apologize for lying. That's not like me.

As of 18 November 2011, users can play game content purchased from PlayStation Store on up to two PS3 systems. This update will not affect game content purchased before 18 November 18 2011 ( meaning content can still be used on five PS3 Systems )

http://uk.playstation.com/psn/support/ps3/detail/linked236637/item308379/Activate-Deactivate-your-PS...

You can sign into another console YOU OWN using your profile and re-download all your bought content from PS-Store onto that new console. You then leave your profile ACTIVE on that other console that way  other game profiles in your home on that console can use your content. ( everyone can play your bought content at same time online this way ) " ( IE kids, family,, ect ).

That is not classed as game sharing by Sony. Personal use is what sony called it as the consoles MUST BE IN THE SAME HOME and BELONG TO YOU.

Heres an example  = My kids, or family  can make an account on any of MY active consoles at HOME and use my personal PSN DLC. This has been confirmed by Sony. And has been confirmed that this is NOT classed as game sharing.

If i want to place my ID onto my brothers / friends console i can activate my info on their PS3, but when i am leaving and have finished using their console i MUST deactive my ID from that console, as otherwise they could still use my bought PSN content and that's when Sony classes this as Game Sharing. Which isn't allowed.

You can sign in with ONE ACCOUNT on TWO separate consoles at same time but can only go ONLINE with one account per console. NOT two at the same time. IE ( you cannot play MW3 and Fifa online at the same time using one profile )

Hope this helps/
