I popped into my local Curry's today to purchase a new TV (sadly not a 3D TV as I cannot afford one). The sales guy let me checkout that Panasonic 50" 3D TV and it was AMAZING!!!

The picture is fantastic nothing like the rubbish 3D that they had on Channel 4 a few months back.

Your lucky! What did you watch, and what kind of effects were going on?

Btw, (applies to anyone) how can you find out whether your local Currys/PC World is displaying 3D Tv's or not, because I'd like to give 3D  a go to decide if 3D is for me

I think it was Monsters Inc. it just looked amazing, it's hard to explain but i'll try. The picture quality is the same as blu-ray yet for example the characters stood out, like when one is standing infront of the other you can clearly see this.

I really want a 3D TV now   :smileyindifferent:

Currys have a list of stores on their website that show where you can demo a 3D TV: http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/3DTV-Display-Availability-845-commercial.html

My local Currys isn't listed on there but they have the C8000 doing 3D demos. If you pop in they'll probably have one on I'd say.

I second that, a very well thought out and written blog entry.  Provokes some good thoughts and helps motivate people to find the cash for a 3D tv.  I found it interesting how you mentioned that peoples sense of immersion will differ.  I remember going to comet with my friend and he couldn't believe his eyes but I wasn't overly impressed, I guess that might have something to do with the fact that the content being watched wasn't completely 3D in the sense that it probably wasn't recorded using 3D cameras etc.

Re: The Official PS3 3D TV Recommendations Thread

Lol you brought the your PS3 to Currys? Thats a new idea.

I recently brought a 3D magazine, and although its not pure 3D, I was quite astounded!

It is only a magazine, but the way it popped out was just great! Whilst you were flicking over pages, you could see the depth underneath the 3D titles, and it was as if you dip your finger underneath the 3D bits. Now this is only 3D in a magazine, so now I can't wait to get a 3D Tv!!!!

By the way, thanks for the post up Zinep, because the clarity in the magazine when I put the 3D glasses on was pretty naff. Atleast 3D TV's will be completely watchable without blurs and what not

I think you've got the posts mixed up -- I don't even know what this "Currys" is. I live in Sweden. :smileyhappy:

Thanks to those who gave me some comments on the article. Constructive criticism is always welcome.

I should point out that there were some (minor) issues with the 3D TV I watched in the store. I've thought of writing about it in a separate blog entry; but I have already written about it in the forum here. I read in a review of the VT20 that the faster update of plasma panels solves the "shadow image effect" problem, which was what bothered me the most. (Unfortunately, I can no longer find that review). Though I'd like to point out that I don't think that the shadow image effect will annoy the vast majority. It only bothered me when I was focusing on it.
