I've recently bought a 40gb PS3 and my first game i bougnt was MGS4. I've not used my PS3 to play or store music, videos, or store photos.
At the back of the MGS4 game case, it said that 4600 mb atleast, was required to install. So i installed it. And couple days later my friend brang COD4 over and we played that on my PS3. I think that only takes up 12mb. These are the only 2 games that have been played on the PS3.
Just a couple days ago i checked my system information and it said that free space was : 26 / 37 gb.
What the hell?! 4.6gb + 0.012gb does not equal 9 gb.
So.. Why does it say 9 gb of storage space is used up?!.
That's normal. The PS3 takes at least 10% of the HDD space for some reason(my guess is it's part of the filesystem its using).
It doesn't matter how big your HDD is, it always takes that ~10% from your HDD.
