Re: recording game play??????

You can. just point and shoot at the HDTV. Camera Mics are not the best things so you may need an external extra mic.

Laptops

Laptops need USB3 for 1080p recording.

HDMI can't be recorded cheaply. HDCP blocks it and its enabled on PS3. The HDMI port on laptops is not normaly an Input, only out. unlike other ports HDMI is fixed to only one way input or out put for video normaly.

Camera Aux input

HDMI needs to be converted to Component or to your cameras Aux video input, if it has one. But if it aux input only S-Video and not component Its not going to be HD.

Depends on the camera Model, What is it.

I asume because it does every thing automaticly with no manual overrides thats why it give a bad picture.

Re: recording game play??????

I think it can be done, but it takes a bunch of stuff to set up. I think once every thing is done the price wouldn't be too far off the AVerMedia Game Capture HD. I imagine the ease and the better quality would make the purchase worth it in the end.
