Over the last few months whenever I try to watch something on 4OD via PS3, it gets halfway through the programme (not matter what length the programme is) and then completely hangs the system.  Unable to quit out of the browser to re-launch 4OD and PS3 hard powers itself down.  Upon boot up then goes through the file rebuild due to not being shutdown properly.  BBCiplayer works fine.

Anyone have any clues please.

4OD from the TV section should be removed it's not fit for use. The PS3 currently has two browsers the older version in the TV section and the newer more stable version. Reason the old browser is still there is mainly for other countries TV catch-up services. 

There is a workaround launch 4OD as usual press select and add to bookmarks. Exit 4OD then open the PS3 browser press select and select the 4OD bookmark you have just saved. 4OD is 100% more stable used this way it has to be the specific version. http://ps3.channel4.com/

Thanks for the fix. Works perfectly this way.

Shame the XMB tab does'nt work the same way.

Isn't it bit sad SONY can't sort this one out, a tiny update for the player would fix this without having to go round the houses to watch a better version through the browser.

Its better to ask Channel 4 to buy Iplayer base code from BBC.

In the past CH4 rejected the BBC request to fix a standard for IPTV apps BBC offered it to foreign Tv providers as well but it was rejected...

  SCE will never replace the secondary presets for the browser.

The secondary preset Allows HTTP streaming of files which EU IPTV sites need as they don't all use flash FLV flies...

It slso contains Specific lay out code which the newer preset for the browser does not have.. this causes some IPTV sites to drop the full screen below the original screen web page... whoops

The new Presets uses to much memory breaking in game usage as well... 

The only thing that uses the new preset is the User access via XMB..

Thanks for the reply. Simple fact of the matter however for me is that this doesn't work. I still get no pictures, I get no options to select an episode of a show (only "Play latest episode"). This app is frankly dog***** and shouldn't have been released. The BBC iPlayer is fine, the ITV Player is fine, the 4OD player is *****. How hard can it be?!?!

My fix i posted above using 4OD via the browser was working until very recently. Just getting sound no picture like a few others are reporting. 

Won't be using 4OD via the TV section not worth risking my PS3 after a few blue screen of death crashes. Just hope this is a temporary issue with the browser workaround and the picture's fixed.
