I've had my PS3 do automatic updates for me every night for a long time now. A few days ago, I realized that at about 12 pm, it was still on from an automatic update that started at 2am. That worried me greatly as I do alike leaving it on for so long. Anyways, I cancelled the update and went on with my life. Today, I turned automatic updates back on (turned them off because I wanted to make sure it didn't happen overnight again) at 12 pm, and let it automatically update. It is now almost 5 and it is still updating. Should I be worried? I read someone post something similar and they ended up getting the YLOD. Should I cancel the updates all together? Really not sure what to do :/ any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you set any downloads? If so, then ones like the Infamous 2 download (10GB) could be what's keeping it going. This is harmless unless your PS3 is already on life support, so don't worry about it.

(Unless you have a tight electricity bill, in which case you may want to pause any downloads you don't mind waiting for).

Automatic update will usually stop after a couple of hours even if there is still queued downloads. Is it getting stuck on the install phase? Try 'Restore file system'.

I choose to only include game patches, system software updates and cloud uploads as a part of the Automatic Updates. Other then that I decided that the update time should be around 9am where I know I'm not sleeping and usually not playing.

Rhanks guys, your comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated. I believe the Ratchet and Clank All 4 One installation is what is taking so long. I'm ptobably gonna refrain from allowing automatic updates to handle that kind of thing from now on.

Remember to enable it after so that your games update when they're supposed to
