Best thing to do with a broken PS3?

Hey guys, my 40GB PS3 broke a while back, it's got the red flashing light where it won't turn on (is this the same as YLOD?). I figure I have two options...

1) Try to fix it myself...I haven't got the best tools for the job and I've heard it's only a temporary fix, lasting a few weeks, but if I could make it work again I would trade it in to a game company (probably CeX) so then they'd sell it on with a warranty (I wouldn't sell it to someone myself that would be sad).

2) Sell it as broken on ebay.

Which one would you recommend, or is there something better I can do with it? I don't want it myself by the way, it's too distracting.

Thanks :smileyvery-happy:

You could also get it repaired by Sony if you don't want the hassle of doing it yourself.
