Basically I have a 160gb PS3 and when i got it second hand I connected it to my Teac 22" screen (HD), this worked fine because i had chnaged the settings on my other TV as it only takes 720p not 1080.

I played this for a while and no problems but the other day i unplugged it all and reconnected it and is just coming up with a black screen. The PS3 isnt broken and the HDMI is fine because it still all works on my other LG tv, it just seems to be my smaller one that comes with the black screen, even when I chnage the display settings. What shall i do?

Also I do not have a composite cable beacuse it didnt come with the 2nd hand console.

Have you done a reset of the ps3 display settings?

by holding the power button? yeah i have done that and it stills shows the black screeen

but still works fine on the other tv!

Do other devices (x-box sky box ect) work on the smaller TV using the same HDMI cable?

this happened to me (for the second time) this afternoon.

my ps3 is simultaneously connected to an lcd in my lounge & a crt in my bedroom.

all i did today was buy a better hdmi lead & fit it while both the lcd & ps3 were in standby.

when i switched everything back on, the lcd detected the ps3's signal but produced no picture or

sound (1080i through hdmi was the previous setting).

back in the bedroom, the customary 'a hdmi device has been detected...' message was on screen

(in the usual green), so i chose option 'yes' & returned to the lounge expecting to see the 'can you see this / 25 seconds...' message but i didn't.

i got BSS.

i then tried the '2 beeps' video reset twice & afterwards option 3 in safe mode, all to no avail.

to cut a long story short, i sorted this by switching both the lcd & ps3 off AT THE MAINS.

(obviously, they should be switched off normally first).

when i powered back up, everything had reset & it's at this point that i remembered i'd done all this before & should get a 'restoring file...' type message, which i did.

after that, just go through the motions & you should be ok
