Just bought the 250 gig Slim ps3 and am trying to perform the data transfer utility from my launch ps3 to the new one.
Deactivated all acounts, synced all trophies before starting this operation but the thing is it gets stuck at around 80/81 % and never moves passed this number...one time left it for over half an hour at this percentage.
Can anyone help please ???? I really need to set the new ps3 up.
Cheers
M

How did it go mate? did u solved the problem?
Im totally stuck at 68% now.... been waiting it for hours to move forward. I know both ps3s are live cause i can see that wavy thing moving, but i cant confirm is there any progress at all cause percentage indicator is waaaaay coarse for this thing.
Im wondering could it be over 4gig files out of playtv or those thousands of small files from EOJ...
mate, do u have playtv or EOJ?

I'm transferring my data from an 80gb original PS3 to a 60gb version, pimped out with a 640gb HDD, and it's been stuck at 59% and 1 hour and 1 minutes for aes now; as with the other poster; the wavy lines are still there, the power lights are green, both are showing a signal on my TV, the pads are both responding (well, I can press O to give me the option to cancel; but I've not actually cancelled it), and the green light by the ethernet ports are flashing too.
Is the transfer still occuring, and how long will I have to wait, (Ive read posts on the US forums saying people have had to leave them running for over 3 days), I don't want to cancel at this stage in the transfer for fear of losing my data; and it seems other posters here are in the same condition.
Pibout; can I ask you how long it took you to complete your transfer, (I realise that 640gb is larger than most ever put into their PS3, so I realise this may have something to do with it; transferring the data from an 80gb HDD to something 8x the size, *grunts like Tim "The Toolman" Taylor*....what do we need....MORE POWER!!!!
Yeah, you read it right, 640gb; I've got over 150 PS2 games and about 50 PS1 games, not to mention about 100 downloads of Mini's and other PSN games, and the PS2 memory cards are still expensive, lol, (my PSP has a 32gb MSPD in it and I'm down to my last 5gb; all legit too).

Your PS3s will still be transferring data, when I used the Data Transfer Utility for my new PS3 a couple of months ago, I remember it getting stuck at 73% for ages (and if I remember rightly, from there it jumped straight to 100%).
What I did to speed up the process was delete most of my game data, (NOT save data) anything that wouldn't need a load of updates, and I deleted PSHome as well - anything that I could either reinstall or re-download afterwards. If you don't wanna do that, I'm afraid you've just got to be patient and let the PS3s finish what they're doing...
@ScottBull With you, it's probably not worth deleting all that data since it will take an age to redownload - it took my PS3s about 90 minutes to move about 20GB of data, so you'll probably just have to bite the bullet and wait ![]()

Cheers; I left it for a few hours and it all resolved itself.
It kept the original data on the other HDD too; I shoulve' kept it and gave my old 60gb HDD to my brother-in-law and sister, and kept the 80gb as a back-up before I formatted it; ah well; everyone has 20-20 hindsight.
In the end, I just hit up some Phantasy Star Portable 2 and the like.
Cheers guys, and for anyone else encountering this problem, just sit back and have patience, and for me to say that is something, lol.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner; I got emails about this, but was hospitalised at the time.
You may be using the wrong type of Ethernet cable; I can't remember if it's straight-through or cross-over, but have a look on Amazon and grab one of each, (they should only cost you like £1 each), and try them both.
Also, I know it may sound condescending; but make sure they're fully pushed in, I had the same problem myself the first few times, (then the piece of....model I transferred from got the YLOD, and it'd alredy been repaired twice; so now I've lost 2 USB ports and backwards compatability which Sony removed to cut costs, even though 2 USB's in a device csts nothing, andthe PS2 compatability was software emulated anyhow, so already existed)....but yeah, I'm going off on a tangeant there, lol.
