Hi all,

I have a second hand PS3 slim and think it may have a problem.  I'm currently experiencing very long installation times.  For instance, I have downloaded GTA 4 (11Gb) and am 45 minutes into the installation with 55% complete.  Other games took ages too. The GT5 update took over an hour.  Assassin's Creed 2 took 45 minutes or more.

Are these installation times normal for downloaded games?

There is a good chance that it could be down to your internet speed mate.

If your download speed is less than ideal, for example under 4mb or fluctuating wildly, then downloads will take longer. Unfortunately there's not much you can do about it.

Swapping to a wired connection will improve it slightly although probably not enormously.

not sure, i have had a few long game instals from both downloaded and off disc, so i know theres a few out there that do take a long time, but your discription does sound a bit more extreme, how does it instal an avarage, say 4GB, game? if that also takes long then your probably looking at a problem with your system, sorry that i can't say what and how serious that might be, it must be a pain.. do the games download slow, or is at least that wait not to long?, anyway no matter what your download speed is, that doesn't affect the instal speed.. hope you get some more info.
