Dual shock controller

My son let my controller run out of charge and now when I plug it into the USB port on my ps3 there are no lights coming on at all and the controller will not come on

Tried that, there seems to be no power going to it at all as the lights at the top will not come on

ive ad the same prob i took controller apart unplugged battery plugged it back in now working fine
