Few questions about my playstation.

Hello all, I have a 60GB playstation 3 from the day it was released. It's still up and kicking but it does make quite some noise.

I have replaced the thermal paste and the only improvement I see is that it dosn't kick up the fan speed quite as quickly but it still seems to get up there. This video shows how loud my playstation got before I applied new thermal paste, Don't get me wrong it still gets up like this but not as quickly. I was wondering if maybe getting a 19 blade fan would do much to help my noise problem, and if I were to do a case mod like Cutting a hole around the back of the case where the fan in to increase airflow. I keep my Ps3 Spotless, I clean it ever 2-3 months ( take it apart carefully, clean out all of the dust, Put it back together)

2). Is there a way to possibly connect an external HDD to my playstation 3 and download my PSN games onto it because I recently purchased PS+ and I would like to download all my games but I only have 10GB left on my HDD. Is an external HDD possible for this or do I have to fork out like 80euro for a 500GB HDD to put in my ps3.

Thanks for reading my really long post, and for those who are like TL;DR

1). 19blade fan, worth it or no?

2). External HDD for PSN games or replace Internal?

Re: Few questions about my playstation.

For the fan issue can't really advise except keep your system in well ventilated area preferably not in a tv unit.

HDD space the only option would be is to upgrade the internal drive easy to do upgraded my Phat 40GB twice myself.

Re: Few questions about my playstation.

If you want to make sure that the PS+ games are available to you, all you have to do is get them in your download list without downloading them. You can the download them when you want from your download list. You could then, if upgrading the drive is not possible, delete games you don't play much and then download other games form the list. The important thing is to have them in your download list. All you have to do is to start the download and then cancel it once it has started. Disk drives are dropping in price - I bought a 1TB drive for a little over 70 pounds from Amazon UK. That should be big enough for a while! With regard to the overheating, if you put something under the feet of the PS3 to raise it a little from the shelf (a couple of cm is enough) so more air can circulate underneath as well that may help

Re: Few questions about my playstation.

Thanks for the reply, but for the fan issue it's really no help. My TV unit is completly open extremly well ventilated and I keep my window open to let airflow into the rear/around the playstation but It's still very noisy.

Re: Few questions about my playstation.

I have done that already, but thanks for the reply. I always keep the games in my downloads list. see the thing is I only have LBP 2, and Warhammer: spacemarin 40k downloaded. the only others are BF3 Back to Karkand, and the Bf3 updates, aswell as the Skyrim Updates. What I'm going to consider doing is after I platinum Skyrim, Which I'm really close to doing I'm gonna format my ps3.

Re: Few questions about my playstation.

There is dust inside the ps3 and the only way to stop your playstation from making the vacuum noise is to clean it from the inside which Sony doesn't want you to do. I suffers with this problem with my 2nd playstation. My advise is to phone up playstation and ask them what can be done.

if you would have read. I always keep my PS3 dust free by cleaning it every 2-3 months. Including opening the insides and making sure it's all dust free.
