Basically when I turn on my ps3 I get a message saying "the hard disks file system is corrupted and will be retored" so I press the ps button, leave it load then the screen goes blank for about 10 to 15 minutes, starts back up and back to the original message saying about the hard disks file system. I have also tried to get into safe mode but that doesn't work either because the menu won't come up. Any suggestions?

Change the hard drive, its broke.

Is there a way to recover the data on it like my game saves and whatnot?

Also as I bought the 160gb model is it only compatible with that HDD or can I use a bigger one?

As long as the hard drive is SATA 2, 2.5" high and 5400 rpm it doesn't matter what size hard drive you use, so yes you can use a bigger hard drive

Thanks dude but can I still recover data that's in the hard drive using a computer?
