HDMI issues

Bought a ps3 seconhand (as new) worked through av cabe fine, tried on my original tv, tried all the methods of switching to hdmi, didnt work.but i assumed old pansonic tv, only 720 so id just leave it. Tried it on my much newer sony tv when i got home. it switched to hdmi, but then kept flickering on and off, for different periods of time, when on the start menu, tv appeared to think it was the ps3 sending no signal. (other ps3 has no issue with same lead/tv), but would then pop back on.

Can anyone help/ suggest why?

cheers

Re: HDMI issues

It could be two things - the previous owners settings, or the HDMI socket on the back of the console.

If it were me, I'd hook it up to an av cable and do a full factory reset so that all settings are clear.

If that doesn't work, try blowing really hard several times on the HDMI port.

Let me know how you get on.

Re: HDMI issues

away from it now but il give that a go, need to back it all up before i do. i turned off the deep colour setting and loaded a game, seemed to work, stupidly didnt do one or the other to see which one it was that stopped it. Already tried blowing on it etc.

Re: HDMI issues

When you first used it, did it look like it had been factory reset, and did you just start using it?
