I want to  connect  my european (PAL) PS3 to an  american (NTSC) sony LCD TV.

How can I do it ?

Should the HDMI work ?

Or maybe the component ?

How should I set the PS3 and the TV ?

Please advice.

HDMI will be fine, although component will work also.

In display settings you can click which resolutions your tv supports. If your TV can support 1080p, then check the 1080p box and the 1080i box. If your tv can only support 720p then check either the 1080i box or the 720p box.

I have tried it,and the tv displays "unsupported signal " and a black screen, any advice ?

You need to untick 576 as an output option (if you can)  PAL signals have 576 pixels of vertical resolution versus 480 pixels of vertical resolution for NTSC, if your sending a PAL signal to your NTSC tv it will show as unsupported signal as it can't display it.

Any PAL DVD's won't display unless you upscale them via HDMI and untick 576 as an option in the display settings.

Games & blu-rays should all play fine as they are not PAL / NTSC formats (Apart from some blu-rays that have standard definition extras in them, you may find some of them won't play but the film will play fine.

Try just forcing your output to 720p (add 1080p too if your tv supports that) I'm not sure if you can untick 576 as its a PAL console (might be greyed out) but setting the display to 720P should let you display everything except PAL DVD's in sd.

I connected component cable, and it is working greate at 1080P !

Je suis au Canada et viens de beaucoup investir pour pouvoir jouer à ma PS3 (frenchie) et mes jeux PAL avec la nouvelle TV HD 1080 Samsung (NTSC).

  ...  sauf qu'avec la HDMI haut débit, rien n'y fait ...  je ne peux même pas faire reconnaître ma PS3 via ce câble HDMI.

Votre solution du COMPONENT CABLE fonctionne vraiment? 

PLEASE ... expliquez-moi le processus.

si rien ne fonctionne, je vais rendre tout ce beau matos au commerçant et m'acheter tous mes anciens jeux avec une PS3 US.  :/

You should buy PS3 componnent cable ( it cost 10-20 $)

Connect the cable to your TV componnect input , and you should see the PS3 on that TV input.

Oui le COMPONENT CABLE devrait travailler juste bien. Ou vous toujours pouvez acheter un PAL au convertisseur de NTSC - le convertisseur est plus cher que le COMPONENT CABLE.

Hey there so would a pal ps3 work on an NTSC tv via a component cable? Just seems a bit strange it won't work with a HDMI cable, im heading towards America for a year but want to take my ps3 along with a bunch of DVD etc.

Pleasee help me i have a pal ps3 i bought from abu dhabi and went on video output on the ps3 and it already checked standard pal and i tried all 720p 576 1080i 1080p and nothing worked please help me
