Re: How to remove SingStar from PS3 Version 4.30?

I just sat here for almost an hour typing a sensible response and what happened? Authentication failed - return to page - all typing disappeared. Brilliant. I've had it with SCEE.

Re: How to remove SingStar from PS3 Version 4.30?

I will not spend any money on ps network until singstar is removable! Money talks, Sony will not take any notice of any complaints at all if they think it is making them money! Complain all you want, they will not care, stop spending money on psn, they will care!

Re: How to remove SingStar from PS3 Version 4.30?

I've also decided not to purchase any more Sony Products or Services. Apart from white goods, and my PC's, just about everything else I own is branded Sony - right down to my Digicube which still works after all these years.

This is the wrong time, financially, to be annoying your customers even if it is only a minority which bother to complain about advertising malware.

The person who thought this up ought to be fired and, likewise, the person who gave it the go ahead. It's little wonder that Sony are losing their market share across a whole range of business if this is the current calibre of management they're employing. It's a sad day indeed and I sincerely hope Sony quit with the shenanigans and get back to doing what they were best at - being the best.

Re: How to remove SingStar from PS3 Version 4.30?

Has anyone backed up and formated? I believe that does the job, the icon is gone. Yet, i do not know what will happen when you restore the data back on the PS3... I believe SingStar will be back, but it could be removed?

Worryingly the Games Apps section seems to have gone in this weeks store update. I know it was empty but thats where this singstar should most likely be, as an optional download.

Doesn't fill me with confidence.

Come on sony all these long forum threads and no response.

Re: How to remove SinStar from PS3 Version 4.30?

It pains me greatly but after the events of the past couple of years I am for the first time considering buying an xbox, that word really grates on me too after spending years defending Sony against those child like hooligans that play xbox, but Singstar only reminds me of my teenage sister years ago singing using her hairbrush as a microphone and that grates harder, some of you will understand my pain, so remove singstar please or I'll become an xbox gob*****e this xmas.

Re: How to remove SinStar from PS3 Version 4.30?

Didn't $ony recently release a press statement that the "Hacked" custom firmware is malware? how ironic that the latest dashboard update contains "official" malware!

Remove this crap off my dashboard or I will wait until the hackers find a way to do it, and not doubt it will enable more on my console than you would like!!!

Will you ever learn $ony!

Re: How to remove SinStar from PS3 Version 4.30?

I can certainly see 'hackers' gaining more support in their fight against Sony and their continued changes to the PS3 which we originally bought. Whilst I personally don't in any way condone hacking in any form or support 'hackers' in any way I can definitely see their point and wholly agree with their arguments. I just think there are better ways of effecting change but if Sony continue with their ignorant stance I just might be convinced otherwise.

My latest workaround to avoid the Singstar intrusion is to eject my game disk after each session (yeah, I know, I ought to do that anyway - but I don't) and simply stick it back in after I've turned the PS3 on without initially swapping to HDMI -3. After a minute or so I switch to HDMI-3 and there's my game and game background without ever seeing the kiddies game invading my space.

Well done Sony. Now I no longer look at what's new (my PS3 is still set that way) and, as an added bonus, I don't get smacked in the face with a second instance of the Store. For heavens sake, Sony, I do know where to look if there's something I want to buy.

Hrmph! - I just loaded up my Xmas background theme. Stupid freakin' Singstar is over-riding it and so is the second instance of the Store. This can't possibly be right. How can you, Sony. sell theme's that are immediately overwritten by your own malware? Someone somewhere will get this sorted out eventually I hope. This is pathetic!!!!!
