I think there's something wrong with my HDD

Hi there,

Was just wondering what the common signs are that there is something wrong with your hard drive? The other night i was listening to music on my ps3 and went to change album when my ps3 turns itself off and reboots with a message in psone writing saying there was something wrong with my settings and i had to install the latest firmware update via a usb stick.

I turned it off at the wall and on again and i got the usual message that the ps3 was not turned off the last time it was used yada yada, but it seemed to work ok after that. Then tonight my ps3 froze, forcing me to turn the whole thing off and on again, this time i was greeted with a message saying "Rebooting hard drive" or something similar. So it starts rebooting then once again turns itself off and on again with the message that it wasn't turned off properley and then it worked fine again.

My PS3 is one of the newer models, a 320gb slim. I treated myself to it about 2 months ago since my old fat 60gb never had enough memory. I am concerned because it is less than 6 month's old so any help is appreciated.

Re: I think there's something wrong with my HDD

Sounds like there is something wrong with the system and or HDD. Might try and do a rebuild database from the safe mode menu

Here is a tutorial on how to do it and see if that fixes any problems

But you will loose all your messages and folder settings of you choose to restore the database. Your save data will be ok as will all the DLC you have brought and installed.
